What is a Financial Coach?

A financial coach is like a personal trainer—but for your money. Unlike a financial advisor, we don’t sell products or manage investments. Instead, we focus on day-to-day money skills: budgeting, goal setting, planning ahead, and shifting your money mindset. Here’s what coaching can look like:

-Building a budget that makes sense for you and your life
-Creating habits that support your goals instead of sabotaging them
-Getting out of survival mode and into a plan that feels doable
-Navigating money stress with clarity and support
-Helping you stay consistent and follow through on what matters to you

We all start somewhere — and most of us start without much guidance. If you’re wondering whether coaching could help, let’s talk. No pressure, no sales pitch. Just a chance to see if this feels like a fit.

Why I coach...

I became a financial coach to honor my mom’s legacy. She had this incredible way of caring for people — always generous with her time, her resources, and her presence. She was the village. Coaching is my way of continuing that spirit: helping people feel seen, supported, and a little less alone in their money journeys.Grief is hard enough on its own. When I lost my mom, being in a good financial position was the best bittersweet gift I could have given myself. I didn’t have to worry about bills or scramble to stay afloat. I still went to work, but not because I had to — it was just something to help me move through the days. That stability came from steady, realistic habits I’d built long before any inheritance came my way.Having that breathing room reminded me what financial peace really feels like. It gave me time to slow down, reconnect with what matters most, and lean into the slower, cozier pace of life I’ve come to love — gardening, baking sourdough, and making space for reflection. But I know that kind of calm can feel out of reach — especially for younger folks trying to make it in an economy that feels stacked against them. And if you’re neurodivergent like me, the usual “money rules” often miss the mark. That’s why I coach: to help people start where they are, find clarity in the chaos, and build a money life that actually fits who they are.My style is kind, clear, and just a little bit pushy — think affectionate bully, in the best way. I won’t overwhelm you with jargon or shame. I’ll help you uncover what works for you and give you the structure to move forward, one doable step at a time. You don’t have to do this alone. And you don’t have to do it perfectly. You just have to start.
